Here's the plan: every Friday, let's recommend some people and/or communities to follow on Dreamwidth. That's it. No complicated rules, no "pass this on to 7.328 friends or your cat will die".

Note that Three Weeks for Dreamwidth is running April 25-May 15. Keep that in mind when working up your Follow Friday contributions.

The theme poll for 2025 is live at summerofthe69! If you want to help decide which themes will run this year, go vote 👀 (Voting is open to everyone with a Dreamwidth account, BTW, since the comm has a lot more subscribers than members.)

Edit: To clear up some confusion: You do not have to even want to create anything for this fest to vote for themes you want; if there's a theme that you think it would be cool for someone to make something for, that makes you eligible to vote.

This is about overall interest in themes, not just "I personally would sign up to create something for the themes I'm voting for".

I have no idea if I'll have time to create anything, but I love that the community and its challenge exist. I am happy to propose and vote for themes, and to boost the signal, and enjoy whatever fills come in.

That's the way to do it!

A friend of mine told me that they would feel guilty voting, because they don't think they'd be able to write anything for the challenge; I was immediately like, "What, no, go vote! This poll is about interest in these things existing, not personal intent to create them." And then came here to emphasize that in my initial comment.

I have the same rule with polls on my blog, and with theme calls for the Poetry Fishbowl. It doesn't matter if you are a prompter, a sponsor, a fan, whatever -- just that people are interested in which things.
