There's been a lot of activities within the Asian media communities (mostly the general communities) but yeah they can be a little scattered if one is not in those spheres.

I've seen some folks listing their interests that way, and it's generally true of fandoms that people have favorite genres or sources with a cluster of similar canons.
Also ...
Let Your Freak Flag Fly lists some communities that match interests commonly mentioned by Cohost refugees. Dreamwidth is a pretty safe place for a lot of topics that aren't always welcome in other venues.
