Jul. 12th, 2024 12:47 amGot any Follow Friday-related posts to share this week? Comment here with the link(s).
Here's the plan: every Friday, let's recommend some people and/or communities to follow on Dreamwidth. That's it. No complicated rules, no "pass this on to 7.328 friends or your cat will die".
Done!

On a note that may or may not be directly related to the above, I hope to have a short post about what might be involved in fucking a mershark available to read sometime tonight.

But ...
Date: 2024-07-13 04:28 am (UTC)Re: But ...
Date: 2024-07-13 04:52 am (UTC)(Honestly, I still haven't decided one way or another on it. On the one hand, a little bit of rough stuff to rub up against can be very hnngh when applied correctly. On the other hand, I don't know how much I want to deal with the inevitable onslaught of "But sharks are smooooooooth!!1!one!!" comments. Which. May not actually be that many, since this is origific rather than for an established fandom, but still!
Also I'm referencing the meme in the title, which does not help me avoid such comments at all.)Edit: If mersharks in this universe have denticles, it'll be only on their backs/shark tails; their human parts will have a soft underbelly still. (With the possible exception of the hardcore mersharks who have hooked claspers.)
Re: But ...
Date: 2024-07-13 05:06 am (UTC)Well, the ferocity of denticles does vary. Some are really big and obtrusive. Others are smaller, more like sandpaper than cheese grater. I think young sharks are actually born without them and they grow in later, so a failure of that mechanism in mersharks is possible.
>>On the one hand, a little bit of rough stuff to rub up against can be very hnngh when applied correctly.<<
Very true. Suede, leather, studded paddles ... hell some people like vampire gloves.
>> If mersharks in this universe have denticles, it'll be only on their backs/shark tails; their human parts will have a soft underbelly still.<<
So kinda like porcupines, just have to be careful with docking maneuvers. ;)

Eh, people write tomcatperson pr0n.
Re: But ...
Date: 2024-07-13 05:14 am (UTC)Stubble was also one of the things I was thinking of for rough texture = good. But yeah, similar to porcupines and hedgehogs and such.
😂 Yeah, the mershark in the story I'm writing is definitely the sort without hooked claspers, but you've probably figured out by now that I like to leave options open for YKINMKATO reasons. Not my thing, but for those who like it that way, they have the option! (I'm also including a prophylactic option that can take care of both clasper hooks and sharp teeth for oral, but I didn't cover it in the above rundown. It should get enough screen time in the fic, though.)
Re: But ...
Date: 2024-07-13 05:32 am (UTC)I hadn't heard of that. I looked it up. Way down the article I found a reference to "reef shark" which I had heard before, but not in the context of smooth skin. It does say the denticles are tiny. Fascinating.
... yes, I learn things from pr0n.
>>Plus, I'm handwaving a lot of shit by saying that mersharks in this universe had a magical origin and are a combination of humans and sharks, so they could have gotten lack of denticles from humans.<<
That is an excellent rationale. So often writers just stick two halves together, but merging usually works better. I've done anatomical studies on centaurs to see how they work, and it's more complicated inside than outside.
>>Stubble was also one of the things I was thinking of for rough texture = good. But yeah, similar to porcupines and hedgehogs and such.<<
Stubble is about the boundary line, where some people love it and others hate it. I could see a shark with that texture of skin.
>>I'm also including a prophylactic option that can take care of both clasper hooks and sharp teeth for oral,<<
Well yeah, humans have teeth covers for blowjobs.

Thanks! I figured that taking a mix-and-match approach to mershark anatomy, sexual anatomy included, just made the most sense. Doubly so, since I don't know how (or even if) sharks experience sexual pleasure, so I was like, "Okay, based on the anatomy of the two species I know, what makes at least a little bit of sense here, but also could conceivably get mersharks off?" I especially feel like combining sexual traits makes sense, since that area is effectively where the two halves meet. (Well, on humans anyway; shark genitals are a little farther down the tail. But I'm also prioritizing "ability to have sex with humans", so that made deciding placement on mersharks a little more straightforward 😜)
Another thing about stubble is that some people might love it during the act, but hate having stubble rash after.

Speaking of learning things from porn! 😂
