The official poll for 2024 themes is running at summerofthe69! There aren't a lot of responses right now, so anyone's vote has a lot of potential weight. (I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't also set up a copy of the poll on a separate website. I know there are sites to host that sort of thing...)

There's also Three Weeks for Dreamwidth posts up over at Mood Theme in a Year and Kittens and Spitefic.

TBH, I haven't voted yet myself 😅 I almost feel like it isn't fair for me to vote, since I chose everything from the first fest. If there were more people voting, I don't think I'd feel that way, but with how few votes there are so far... In any case, I'll probably try and advertise the poll at the usual places and see if that helps at all. Not tonight, though! I've got work tomorrow and don't have time to make all those posts.

As host, you get the last vote, for breaking ties and such. I tend to do that with my polls, or have my partner do it.

Oh, that makes sense! I was thinking of maybe doing a run-off in the days between the initial poll ending and the 2024 themes being finalized (May 15th and 18th, respectively), but applying modly powers to be a tie-breaker would also work pretty well.

Thank you! I should boost over on Tumblr as well; I don't expect to get a lot of attention from that end, but if a new interested party learns about the fest as a result, I'd consider that a win.

You can do a runoff if there are lots of ties that aren't easy to break. It's what we do with the Rose and Bay Awards in case of a 3+ way tie.

There's no reason you can't make it a multiplatform fest. Plenty of them are.

At the moment, things seem to be settled with an easy ten front-runners. We'll see if that stays true after I do my advertising! I'm also currently planning to start the fest with the least popular of the winners, and work up to the most popular, so potential participants have the maximum amount of time to work on what might be their favorite themes.

Thank you! Yeah, I had a lot of fun coming up with taglines for most of those; I had even more fun last year with writing the mini-essays to go with the themes! (Mini-essays linked in the 2023 themes master list for reading convenience, should you be so inclined.) I want to make sure that the themes are flexible enough for anyone who might be so inclined to be able to create something for every single one without having to deal with something that squicks them out.
