followfriday is the best for finding new communities, but see also dw_community_promo and the Interests page.

Watch for the sunshine_challenge in July which usually boosts activity. The snowflake_challenge in January is even bigger, and Three Weeks for Dreamwidth in April-May is also lively.

nice!! thank you—I'll definitely check out sunshine_challenge next month. the recurring posts are a good idea, too—one of my besties does them and it does really give me something to look forward to seeing on my reading page :)

Yes, recurring posts are very popular. It's fun to see what different people do with theirs. Some are unique, others have lots of people doing them.

With that, the first theme, Spiderman 69, has officially closed, though Alternate Sexy Parts 69 is still open for another week.
