Follow Friday 12-2-22
Dec. 2nd, 2022 05:26 amGot any Follow Friday-related posts to share this week? Comment here with the link(s).
Here's the plan: every Friday, let's recommend some people and/or communities to follow on Dreamwidth. That's it. No complicated rules, no "pass this on to 7.328 friends or your cat will die". Just introduce us to some new things to read.

Date: 2022-12-03 11:44 am (UTC)I was excited to see a Baldur's Gate comm in your list, it looks very new (no members beyond the admin!). It's not the first new fandom comm I spot. It's great to see although I also hope the new admins are ready to put in some effort to get them going, too! I saw so many promising comm with 1 or 0 posts from the post-Tumblr wave in 2018. Fingers crossed, and promising either way :D

People need to understand that making a community is a commitment. You should have a plan for how to activate it. Will you do gather posts, recurring posts, ask people to sign up to do things, or what? If you don't create some content, few people will sign up. It's easier to launch if you have several friends who are into the same thing and will help make posts.
There are so many things that I already post on my blog but haven't found communities for. I'd love to have a birding community, because I make daily posts about that. But the only ones I found are old, and I'm not sure I really have time to promote another community.

Date: 2022-12-03 08:44 pm (UTC)Is that science fiction? If so, I can add it. Very little came up when I used that search term; apparently people don't list the genre in the Interests. I had to search individually for things I knew were SF.
<3 And this conversation motivated me to get that comm creation tips post over on
Thank you! I appreciate that.
