The small batch icons comm is great both for graphic makers to stay active in bite sized chunks and also to get feeds moving. Also, it's yuletide season again! The year has gone by so fast.

Do you follow the yuletide fests? I know they exist and have marked a few, but I'm not familiar enough to know when they all run. It'd be great if someone did a list of those at the beginning of their collective season.

Yuletide is a very famous exchange fest centered around the holiday season/end of the year, hence the name. It's a quite large fanfic exchange event in which people get to nominate/make requests for niche fandoms and characters that usually don't get much traction, and in turn have to write a niche fanwork for someone else who is assigned to them through a pairing system.

Since the event is so large it runs across several months (starting with fandoms and characters nominations, entering as a writer, writing a profile for the event of what you'd like and what you don't and finally being matched with another person + the alotted time to write and hand in your request). Finally, fanfics are revealed thorugh Ao3 on Christmas day and authors get revealed at the end of the year.

I was thinking about the category, rather than an individual community or fest. There are dozens of these things, and some people are really into them so they join a lot. There's Fandom Stocking, and a Chanukkah one, and so forth.

Ah, sorry! My knowledge comes mostly from sharing fandom spaces with writers so I don't have that in depth information. Maybe someone well versed in exchange communities would be able to help?
