damned_colonial, whom I only met through joining DreamWidth. Sure, we'd shared a fandom briefly (Pirates of the Caribbean) and the name was familiar, but now I've met someone who builds community for breakfast and defends it for dessert. And has fun and interesting things to say all in between.
cypher - this is the person who got me into livejournal and Harry Potter fandom. We went to college together, and I bought a car from cypher. But you should read cypher if you are smart and agile and interested in pretty, shiny, things with broken edges (though they are softening with age). cypher flits among gaming and anime fandoms, knocking them down and porning them hard, but also has recently (well, it's been a year or two by now, hasn't it?) developed an original fiction world, which is turning out kind of fascinating and plotty.
dpfesh - so my real life friend isn't particularly fannish, but you should meet her anyway. She only recently got a dreamwidth account because her work has started blocking livejournal. But she's open and friendly and crafty. She will talk openly about drugs and family, and she will talk openly about living proudly polyamorous and kinky.
And then I split this week's and next's into a tuesday post:
blackletter is studying for comps. For a motherfucking PHD. In classical studies. blackletter is a classicist specializing in a whole bunch of nifty writers and things, but especially eunuchs of awesome. Also, if you want to read some Sherlock Holmes fic or some Jeeves & Wooster, well, blackletter has just (a bit ago) finished a huge crossover of amazement and 82K words - Something of Vengeance. But also random spurts of ancient history joy. So if you think smarts are kinda hot... (Also, good luck on your remaining comps!)
ktnb is fully qualified to be a school teacher and is picking up classes as a substitute in between rocking the WoW world and being enthusiastic about Supernatural. ktnb sweet and wholesome and a lot of fun to be around.
boilingwater is a food community for people who are none too sure about this cooking business. If you are intimidated by your pots and pans and want a bit of advice (or are capable of giving advice without being a dick), then this is a lovely support community.
