Here's the plan: every Friday, let's recommend some people and/or communities to follow on Dreamwidth. That's it. No complicated rules, no "pass this on to 7.328 friends or your cat will die". Just introduce us to some new things to read.

The popular interests function isn't working today, so instead I listed new communities from June. There's a big flurry of creation right now, so I encourage everyone to keep an eye on dw_community_promo although I've spotted a few elsewhere as well.

The next theme at summerofthe69 is now open: Size Difference 69: Whether from a height difference or some other size difference, there's logistics problems at play! I tried to cover a bunch of possible interpretations in the theme introduction post, some of which might not immediately occur to people.

The public post for July is also up at kittens_and_spitefic: "Only one bed"? More like only one BLAH! As a reminder, this community tries to promote spite responses through insincere trolling. (Basically, OP is lying to try and get you to post the stuff they claim to hate. But everyone knows this, so it's okay!) Be sure to check out the community profile for more details, or the pinned post for links to examples.

It's not the most active comm, but I have a lot of fun with it!

Basic premise:

OP: Gosh, I just love it when puppies and kittens cuddle, but I don't have enough of it in my life and don't know how to get more! Wait, maybe if I post to this community?
OP: I hate it when puppies and kittens cuddle! It's gross and terrible!

Commenter 1: Oh, yeah? Well, here's a website that's full of pictures of puppies and kittens cuddling! ((OOC: I hope you like it!))
OP: Argh, no, how terrible! I must visit blacklist this site immediately! ((OOC: This is perfect I love it thank you ♥))

Commenter 2: Hey, OP, check this out! *soft news story about puppies and kittens cuddling*
OP: Grrr, get that off of my post, this is the worst! ((Yes thank you this is perfect!))

Commenter 3: *short story about a meet-cute with their OTP where the two people in the ship have lost a puppy and kitten respectively, then find them cuddling together in the same place*
OP: Hiss! No! Take it away! It burns from cuteness!

And so forth. Including for specific fandoms and ships and stuff! Posts are locked to the community by default to prevent misunderstandings, but once a month I host a public post for a really generic trope to try and let people get more of a feel for the community if they don't want to commit, or for people who don't want a DW account, etc.

I run justcreate which is a community to get encouragement on any sort of creative endeavor, and the not so creative ones, like chores and laundry. We have weekly check-ins to share what you've done and what you're working on.

And the related communities of rainbowfic and rainbowlounge are picking up. Rainbowfic is dedicated to original fiction and associated works (like art, crafts, etc). Rainbowlounge is for discussion, games, etc related to that. I post four topics every other week (or so) to encourage talking about one's writing beyond just sharing what's been written. It's very low-key and welcoming for both queer and adult stuff.

We're in the middle of its yearly event, but I've been enjoying wipbigbang. It's meant to help you finish the stories you've been meaning to finish. I finally finished one story and I'm hoping to get two more done
